Mike O’Malley‘s Burt Hummell has some company on Glee‘s list of great parents.
Trisha Rae Stahl, who made her debut during Thursday’s fourth season premiere as the mother to Melissa Benoist‘s Marley Rose, has landed a recurring role on the Fox musical, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Stahl, whose credits include ER, was revealed to be McKinley’s new cafeteria lunch lady who was the subject of ridicule among students including members of New Directions until Marley put an end to it.

“We’ll definitely see more of her home life because I think that’s part of who Marley is. She’s very close with her mom,” Benoist told THR at this week’s Glee premiere in Hollywood.
In Thursday’s premiere, Mrs. Rose was revealed to be the kind of parent who would sacrifice anything in order to help her daughter achieve her dreams and have a good high school experience, including sewing name-brand labels into Marley’s clothes and keeping their relationship a secret from students. She will next appear in the second episode, “Britney 2.0.”
“Her family life has been a struggle, and you’ll definitely see how that’s affected her, and maybe we’ll learn more about it,” Benoist added.
