Photographer Matt Sayles will be the official portrait photographer and creative director for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
This year, Sayles will shoot remote capture images of select nominees, as well as video content for Instagram Reels. His virtual photos will seek to blend the glamour of the awards show with the realities of the pandemic.
The portrait subjects will include Globes nominees, as well as Cecil B. DeMille honoree Jane Fonda, Carol Burnett honoree Norman Lear and Golden Globe ambassadors Satchel and Jackson Lee. The photos will debut on the Golden Globes Instagram page on Sunday, Feb. 28.
Instagram’s partnership with the Golden Globes extends to the pre-show, in which creators will create content for Instagram Reels. Elsa Majimbo will perform comedy monologues, Nick DiGiovanni will prepare Globes-inspired dishes, Wisdom Kaye will discuss red carpet fashion during the pandemic and Mythical Kitchen will showcase the official Globes Moet cocktail.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting the bi-coastal Golden Globes from New York’s Rainbow Room and Los Angeles’ The Beverly Hilton, respectively. The show will air live on NBC on Feb. 28 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. PT.
The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is produced by Dick Clark Productions, a division of MRC, which is a co-owner of The Hollywood Reporter through a joint venture with Penske Media titled P-MRC.
