The "Good Morning America" anchor lands a huge scoop with President Obama's same-sex-marriage interview, adding to GMA's recent momentum in its ratings battle with NBC's "Today."
Robin Roberts is planning to be back at the Good Morning America anchor’s desk after Labor Day.
On Wednesday, the anchor spoke with reporters at the U.S. Open opening night gala, saying she’d make her return during the short work week. “But I love that I start on a four-day week,” she told Vanity Fair. “Right? Snuck another one in there.”

Last June, Roberts revealed that she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood and bone marrow disease. She took medical leave from GMA last August to undergo a bone marrow transplant.
Guest hosts, including Oprah Winfrey, filled in for Roberts during her time away. Roberts appeared several times on the show over the course of several months to give updates on her health challenges.
After a “test run” back at the morning show in January, she returned part time to host in late February. An ABC News report chronicling her fight against the disease, “Robin’s Journey,” was honored with a Peabody Award in March.
Good Morning America has seen ratings victories against its longtime rival, NBC’s Today, this year. Earlier this month, GMA touted 52 straight weeks beating Today as the top morning show.
