It might not have Batman just yet, but Gotham is about to find itself home to a former hero — or, at least, a former member of the Heroes cast.
Milo Ventimiglia has booked a recurring role on the Fox freshman drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Ventimiglia will recur and play a character new to the Batman cannon known as “the Ogre.”

Ventimiglia’s character — whose real name is Jason Lennon — is described as “handsome, wealthy and seductive,” but that merely hides a dark side: He’s also a serial killer who’s been murdering young women in Gotham for almost a decade in his search for a perfect mate. Unsurprisingly, this pits against Ben McKenzie’s upright Detective Jim Gordon.
Although there’s an Ogre in the DC Comics mythology, Gotham’s character is unrelated, and an entirely new creation for the show. He’ll debut in the 19th episode of the season, and is set for a major role.
The Gotham gig brings the actor back to the world of television superheroics after his four-season run on NBC’s Heroes, but he’s kept a foot in the genre ever since, voicing characters for Marvel Anime and Ultimate Spider-Man in the last few years alongside starring roles in TNT’s Mob City and the upcoming midseason drama The Whispers on ABC.
Gotham airs Mondays on Fox. Ventimiglia is repped by CAA and Management 360.
