Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens and Keke Palmer, among others, made their official Grease: Live debut Sunday night in the much-watched, made-for-TV version of the 1971 classic. Along with on-point costumes, the adaptation featured quite a few exceptional red-lip moments.

The most memorable might have been on Hudgens’ Betty Rizzo (above). The actress, who tragically announced her father’s passing just hours before taking the stage, looked perfect for the part in a cropped black wig and signature sassy crimson lips throughout the show.

Carly Rae Jepsen, too, rocked the scarlet pout well. She took on the role of Frenchy, and successfully pulled off the character’s iconic pink hair with contrasting red lipstick.

During the sleepover scene, the girls of course had another makeup moment when they sang and touched up their smoochers using retro compacts.

It’s during that girls-night-in that the innocent and shy Sandy, played by Hough, tries on bombshell red lips for the first time.

Of course, the most famous scene comes at the end, when Sandy and Danny (Aaron Tveit) make their black-clad entrance at the high school party. Hough’s look is a classic: big, blown-out hair, impossibly tight pants, stilettos and, of course, bold red lips.
