It was a slow Friday in terms of original programming with only a handful of originals airing as Christmas nears.
NBC (1.2) notched a tight victory over ABC (1.1) for the night among adults 18-49; usual Friday victor CBS (0.9) ranked a close third with repeats of its drama lineup.
The holiday lull affected outgoing drama Chuck (3.2 million total viewers, 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 demographic), down a tad from its previous original. The same went for rookie crime procedural Grimm (5.2 million, 1.5), which recently received a special tryout on Thursday evenings. Still, the latter won its 9 p.m. time slot handily, topping the second hour of ABC’s canceled Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Dateline (6.1 million, 1.3) also won its 10 p.m. hour, though in the demo, sank three tenths.
ABCs Extreme Makeover (5 million, 1.3), ending in January as a series, remained steady from last week. A special edition of 20/20 (3.7 million, 0.9) followed, down four tenths from its last broadcast.
Fox followed CBS on the night, averaging a 1.0 in the advertiser-coveted demo airing Christmas programming and a repeat of The Simpsons.
The CW aired encores of Nikita and Supernatural.
