TORONTO – Canadian TV actor and performer Alan Thicke is to receive an award of distinction at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.
The Growing Pains patriarch will accept the honor at the annual awards gala.
“Both as an actor and a proud Canadian, I am humbled to be joining such a prestigious and talented group of individuals,” said Thicke on Wednesday in a statement about news of his Banff tribute.
The award comes as Thicke heads back to TV with TVGN’s Unusually Thicke, which follows the Canadian entertainer, wife Tanya and 16-year-old son Carter.
Shaw Media’s Slice channel airs the series in Canada.
Besides playing Jason Seaver on Growing Pains, Thicke, as a songwriter, composed and performed the themes for Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes.
