It’s a case of life imitating art for Casey Wilson and Happy Endings creator David Caspe.
Wilson, who is engaged to her former Happy Endings boss, has been tapped to star in Caspe’s new NBC comedy pilot Marry Me, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Marry Me centers on longtime couple Annie and Jake, who get engaged and quickly realize that it’s harder than it looks. Wilson will play Annie, who is described as pretty and emotional to Jake’s cute and logical.

Caspe penned the script for Sony Pictures Television, where he’s under an overall deal. FanFare’s Jamie Tarses and Seth Gordon will executive produce alongside Caspe. Gordon will direct the pilot for the single-camera comedy.
The casting comes eight months after ABC canceled the critically adored but ratings challenged Happy Endings after three seasons. Sony shopped the series but ultimately options on the cast expired and the hopes for a revival elsewhere were dashed.
For Wilson, the casting marks her second pilot in the works this season. The actress-producer is also co-writing NBC comedy pilot Mason Twins with June Diane Raphael. Mason Twins is one of two projects the writing duo had in contention this season. The pair also have a pilot-production commitment from ABC for half-hour pitch DINKS.

Wilson, whose credits include Bride Wars and Ass Backwards, is repped by UTA, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment and Ziffren Brittenham.
