CBS has just put Ron Weasley on its payroll.
Harry Potter‘s Rupert Grint has been tapped to star in CBS’ Super Clyde, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
The comedy pilot from Raising Hope‘s Greg Garcia centers on a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who decides to become a superhero.
Grint will play the title role of Clyde, the well-meaning and sweet yet slightly neurotic guy who never really feels like he fits in. The avid comic book reader considers himself a borderline agoraphobic with mild-to-severe anxiety issues who wishes he were a superhero himself. When Clyde gets a $100,000-a-month inheritance from his long-dead eccentric Uncle Bill, he decides that the cash will be his secret superpower and will use it only for good and reward the good-hearted.

Garcia will write and executive produce the single-camera comedy under his new deal at CBS Television Studios. Super Clyde is one of two pilots the network has ordered from the showrunner, with an untitled family comedy also set up at the network. Mike Fresco (Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl) will direct the pilot.
Should Super Clyde move forward, it would mark Grint’s first series-regular TV role after starring in all eight of the Harry Potter features. In addition to his role as Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) best friend Ron, Grint’s feature credits include Into the White, Cherrybomb and Driving Lessons. He next appears in CBGB and Cross Country. Grint is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
