NEW YORK – HBO GO, the premium net’s authenticated online streaming destination, has more than doubled its menu of titles from 600 to 1,400, the company announced today.
The expansion puts virtually all of HBO’s programming inventory on Go including all seasons of HBO-produced series such as The Sopranos, Entourage, Sex and the City and True Blood, as well as movies and documentaries.
“HBO GO is the most robust collection of high quality, exclusive online content,” Eric Kessler, co-president, HBO, said in a statement. “The combination of HBO’s linear channels, HBO On Demand and now the expanded HBO GO gives our subscribers an unmatched value proposition.”
There are still some HBO series that are not available on HBO GO, though, such as the cult hit Larry Sanders Show, which the net does not own the rights to.
Additionally, HBO has signed up another service provider, with Cox Communications launching HBO GO and sister service GO MAX today.
“This is just the latest in new viewing options that we are delivering to our valued customers,” David Pugliese, senior vice president of product marketing for Cox, said in a statement.
Cox is the third-largest major service provider behind Comcast and Time Warner Cable serving more than 6 million customers across the country.
The expanded model of HBO GO is now available, at no extra cost, to Comcast XFINITY TV, Verizon FiOS, Cox Advanced TV and AT&T U-Verse customers who subscribe to HBO.
