HBO is bringing back two of its original comedies.
The pickups come midway through their current seasons, which both wrap on June 25.
The renewals are not surprising given the critical success both series have garnered since their respective debuts in 2012 and 2014.
Veep has accrued 11 Emmys thus far, with a record five wins for star Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the best lead actress in a comedy series category. The show has also taken home the Emmy for best comedy series two years in a row. Louis-Dreyfus has also received two SAG Awards for her portrayal of now-former president Selina Meyer.
Last season saw the political satire successfully weather a showrunner change from creator Armando Iannucci to Seinfeld grad David Mandel.
Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson also star on the show. Mandel executive produces with Frank Rich, Louis-Dreyfus, Lew Morton and Morgan Sackett.
Silicon Valley, from showrunners Mike Judge and former Seinfeld writer Alec Berg, has also won two Emmys.
Its ensemble cast includes Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Jimmy O. Yang and Suzanne Cryer.
Judge co-created the series with John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky. He exec produces with Berg, Michael Rotenberg and Tom Lassally; co-executive producers are Jim Kleverweis, Clay Tarver, Dan O’Keefe, Jamie Babbit, Chris Provenzano and Graham Wagner.
In addition to Veep and Silicon Valley, HBO’s original comedy slate also includes Ballers, Insecure, Divorce, High Maintenance, Vice Principals, Crashing and the upcoming return of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
