AMC has renewed Hell on Wheels for a third season.

The Western starring Anson Mount and Common will return with 10 additional episodes, The Hollywood Reporterhas confirmed.

From Endemol, Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures, the drama created by Joe and Tony Gayton returned for its second season in August, shedding 2 million viewers year-over-year without the advantage of ratings juggernaut The Walking Dead as a lead-in.

This season, the drama averaged 2.4 million viewers, down from its 3 million freshman season average.

Season two concluded its run Oct. 7.
