Looking for a Comic-Con motto?
“Nerds need love too!,” actor David Blue admitted during the “Stargate Universe” panel Friday morning. It was revealed that his character Eli would embark on a new relationship.
The Syfy series, the third in the “Stargate” franchise, returns for its second season in September, but that didn’t stop the panelists from telling us what to expect and behind-the-scenes secrets.
The most interesting tidbit to come out of the panel was the show’s shooting style. “The cameras are hidden while we shoot; there are five going on at the same time and we wonder, ‘Who’s covering me?,’ actress Alaina Huffman said.
Departing co-creator and producer Robert Cooper, who worked on “Stargate: SG-1” and “Stargate: Atlantis,” said there is a a “larger mission that everyone is becoming aware of” in Season 2.
Robert Carlyle makes his directorial debut in the fourth episode, “Pathogen,” though it was the first one that was shot. In the emotional hourlong, Eli visits his mother and Na’s character Camille returns to see her lover. In an episode titled “Twin Destinies,” Carlyle plays opposite himself and the synopsis is one that only seems doable in a sci-fi world such as “SGU.”
Season 2 also follows Carlyle’s Nicholas Rush returning to his old tricks. In the teaser, Rush discovers the bridge of Destiny but doesn’t tell anyone. Obviously that can’t bode well for the rest of the team.
