Homeland may have jumped the gun on its female president-elect, but the Showtime drama’s sixth season still promises to mirror quite a bit of reality.
The drama, set to return Jan. 15, has just added an alt-right media personality to the growing list of new characters. The part, played by Jake Weber, reads about as appealing as one can imagine: Brett O’Keefe is described as an aggressive and charming anarchist, though not one with any gig in the fictional administration (think less Steve Bannon and more Alex Jones).
“Alt right,” for anyone who’s completely shunned current events for the last year, is the umbrella term for people whose far-right ideologies distance them from mainstream conservatism. It is frequently a euphemism for racist white nationalism.
Filming in New York after two seasons abroad, Homeland next follows the events in the immediate wake of a presidential election — culminating in Inauguration Day (said president-elect is being played by Elizabeth Marvel).
For Weber, it marks his latest recurring role after stints on Tyrant and Hell on Wheels. The actor, who starred on seven seasons of Medium, also has made recent appearances on Secrets and Lies, The Blacklist and Easy.
Weber is repped by APA and Framework.
