It’s one and done for Houdini and Doyle.
The freshman drama has been canceled after one season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The show, which centered on magician Harry Houdini and Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, earned a straight-to-series pickup in March. The project reunited House alum Michael Weston, who played Houdini, with the medical drama’s longtime executive producer David Shore. Shore exec produced Houdini & Doyle with his longtime collaborator, David Hoselton, who created the series with Canadian screenwriter David Titcher (The Librarians).
The 10-episode series was a U.K./Canada Treaty co-production from Big Talk Productions and Shaftesbury in association with Sony Pictures Television, where Shore Z Productions is based.
Houdini and Doyle premiered on the U.K.’s ITV Encore and Canada’s Global before debuting on Fox in May. The series opened to a lukewarm 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 in live-plus-three numbers.
The news comes as Fox prepares to launch several high-profile original dramas in the fall, including the Lethal Weapon reboot and baseball drama Pitch.
