The Grinch is setting up shop at the peacock network.
NBC has obtained the 1966 animated classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! as part of a three-year deal, the network announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Thursday.
As part of the pact with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, NBC will air the special twice every holiday season for the next three years, beginning this year.
The special most recently aired on ABC last holiday season, paired with the 2000 live-action version of the story, starring Jim Carrey.
Based on the Dr. Seuss book, the special hails from animator and director Chuck Jones and features the voices of Boris Karloff (as the Grinch and narrator) and June Foray (as Cindy Lou Who).
Last year, NBC expanded its holiday programming to include two new animated specials: How Murray Saved Christmas, from Emmy-winning Simpsons writer and executive producer Mike Reiss; and Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas, based on the hit 2003 Will Ferrell film.
