Comedy CentralSeveral Comedy Central and MTV shows will stream exclusively on Hulu following an expanded deal that the streamer has inked with Viacom.
Under the multiyear pact, Hulu becomes the exclusive SVOD home for past and future seasons of Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer, Broad City, Drunk History and Key & Peele, in addition to MTV series Faking It and Finding Carter.
The deal also expands Hulu’s library of exclusive Nickelodeon programming, adding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rabbids Invasion, Sanjay and Craig and more. The full library of older Nickelodeon shows, including Doug and Rugrats, also will be added to the streamer for the first time.
“Viacom has been an important partner of ours since we struck our first deal with them over five years ago, and our relationship has only grown since then,” said Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins. “Today, we are not only extending our deal, but we are adding more premium content than ever from their popular family of networks.”
Added Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman: “Hulu has been a great partner for Viacom for many years. They have a commitment to their customers and brand partners and value how Viacom’s popular range of youthful brands and programs create a better experience for Hulu users. We also value the promotional and marketing support they provide for our brands and shows.”
This agreement expands upon a deal that Hulu and Viacom struck in 2011 to bring full episodes of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report to the streamer the day after they aired. That continues with new episodes of The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.
Last year, they expanded that pact to add nonexclusive streaming rights to full seasons of Comedy Central shows like Inside Amy Schumer and Key & Peele. That deal also gave Hulu a number of classic Nickelodeon shows, including The Ren & Stimpy Show and Hey Arnold!
This most recent deal comes a little more than a month after Hulu picked up the rights to new releases and classic-film titles from Epix, a joint venture of Viacom through its Paramount Pictures division, Lionsgate and MGM. Amazon also has a deal with Viacom granting it exclusive streaming rights to some Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central shows that were not a part of the Hulu pact.
