Hulu has inked an output deal with Neon, with all future titles from the indie distributor becoming available to stream exclusively following their theatrical release.
This is the latest in a string of licensing deals for the streamer, which earlier this month inked a deal with Annapurna Pictures that also includes exclusive streaming rights to future releases.
Founded by Tom Quinn and Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League, Neon released its first film this month, the Anne Hathaway starrer Colossal. Neon was a big player at this year’s Sundance, taking the rights for festival standouts Ingrid Goes West, Roxanne Roxanne and Gemini.
Hulu’s head of content, Craig Erwich, said: “Neon has already acquired a highly anticipated slate of films this year and we can’t wait to bring their titles from the theaters to the Hulu audience.”
Erwich added: “This output deal represents a groundbreaking approach to building the most comprehensive and interactive platform dedicated to visionary cinema. Neon is thrilled to find a partner as innovative, collaborative, and as transparent as Hulu. It’s a perfect match.”
While it already has an expansive television library, Hulu has been working to grow its number of film titles, recently acquiring films from Disney, IFC Films and Magnolia Pictures.
