TBS has found a host for its upcoming relationship game show, Separation Anxiety.
Last Comic Standing and Excused alum Iliza Shlesinger will host the new hourlong series set to debut in late 2015, the Turner-owned network announced Tuesday.
Details are scarce about just how Separation Anxiety works; TBS only described the series as a relationship-based game show featuring a unique twist that isn’t revealed to contestants until after they’ve played the game. “What makes Separation Anxiety such a fun, unique game show is the way it puts relationships to the test,” said David Eilenberg, senior vp unscripted series, specials and late night for TBS. “On top of having a great premise, Separation Anxiety is hosted by Iliza Shlesinger, one of the hottest new comedians in the business. We’re very excited to be adding Iliza’s fresh and funny voice to TBS’ growing roster of comedy superstars.”
The project, first announced in May at Turner’s upfront presentation, hails from 5×5 Media’s Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk and Charles Wachter, as well as Electus‘ Chris Grant. Electus International will distribute the series internationally.
Shlesinger is the only woman and the youngest comedian to hold the title of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Her one-hour comedy special War Paint reached No. 1 on iTunes. The Separation gig comes after she hosted 230 episodes of syndicated dating show Excused from 2011-2013. She’s repped by APA and Avalon Management.
