ITV Studios Global Entertainment has signed a deal with Dutch commercial network RTL5 for a local version of ITV’s hit reality show format I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
The show, a massive ratings hit in the U.K. and Germany, will get a Dutch-language version which will go on air this Spring in the Netherlands.

The show’s concept has B and C-list celebrities enduring a series of disgusting and harrowing challenges in a jungle camp. I’m a Celebrity was the most-watched program on British TV last year, peaking at 13.5 million viewers on ITV. The German version, on commercial net RTL, averaged 7.95 million viewers in its 8th season, for an impressive 39.5 percent share and making it RTL’s best-rated series in a decade.
A U.S. version of the show aired on ABC in 2003. NBC commissioned a second season, which aired in 2009 but did not pick the show up for a third run.
“Watching celebrities swap their lifestyles for the horrors of the jungle makes for compulsive viewing, and we’re delighted that Dutch viewers will get the opportunity to see their celebrities take on the challenge!” said Tobias de Graff, Director of Global Television Distribution for ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
The Dutch version of I’m a Celebrity will be shot in Dutch-speaking Suriname, in South America.
The deal with RTL5 was negotiated by Phil Sequiera, Senior Sales Executive, NW EMEA for ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
