Netflix on Tuesday unveiled the premiere date for original Marvel series Iron Fist and released a first-look image.
The latest comic book-based series on the streaming giant will premiere March 17, 2017, at 12:01 a.m. PT in all territories where Netflix is available. The drama will debut with 13 one-hour episodes.
Marvel’s Iron Fist is the fourth Marvel live-action adventure series on Netflix, following Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. All the series will lead up to the teaming of the main characters in Marvel’s The Defenders on Netflix.
In Iron Fist, billionaire Danny Rand, played by Finn Jones, returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting the city using his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist.
The image released Tuesday features Game of Thrones grad Jones showing off some fist-fighting skills. “Open heart. Closed fist,” the Iron Fist Twitter account said in a comment posted with the picture. “Breathe deep” was the line shown onscreen in a brief YouTube video unveiling the launch date.
Former Dexter executive producer Scott Buck is the showrunner on the series. Netflix and Marvel unveiled a teaser trailer for the series at Comic-Con.
