Keshet International has announced the opening of an Asian office in Hong Kong and the hiring of veteran TV executive Gary Pudney as head of Asia.
The global distribution and production arm of Israel’s Keshet Media Group said the move was a continuation of its recent strategy of inking licensing deals with Asian partners of its formats, as well as buying rights to Asian IP for third-party distribution and production in the U.S.
Recently, Keshet International signed a licensing deal with China’s Huace-Croton Media for its comedies Traffic Light and Loaded. Keshet Studios, Keshet International’s wholly owned U.S. production entity, also optioned the Huace-Croton scripted property Dating Hunter for America. The company also acquired worldwide rights to the high-rating Chinese talent show Not A Star Yet in 2014.
Pudney will report to Keshnet International CEO Alon Shtruzman and cooperate with Kelly Wright, sales director for Asia and Latin America.
Keshnet Media Group’s biggest success was the Israeli show Prisoners of War and its American remake Homeland.
