SYDNEY – U.K. TV giant ITV has tapped industry veteran Anita Jacoby as managing director of ITV Studios Australia. She will head up its operations here.
She most recently worked for Zapruder’s other films as principal and takes up her new post on Sept. 30. She replaces long-time ITV executive Leonie Lowe, who announced she was stepping down from the role in April.
Jacoby will oversee a production slate that includes Come Dine With Me and original hit formats Please Marry My Boy, Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell and Paddock to Plate. The company also makes I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here for parent broadcaster ITV in the U.K. Under Lowe, created the format, Talkin Bout Your Generation for Network Ten and produced Australia’s Next Top Model for Foxtel.
Paul Buccieri, managing director ITV Studios International and CEO and president ITV Studios America, said: “Anita is both a talented creative and an extremely experienced producer. Her career spans almost all genres, a fantastic asset as we continue to grow our Australian business.”

During her 30 years in the Australian TV industry, Jacoby has worked as producer on Australian current affairs shows, including 60 Minutes and Witness, and as executive producer of talk show Laws on Foxtel. She has also made numerous TV series, specials and documentaries, including the feature documentary God on My Side.
In 1989, Jacoby co-founded Zapruder’s other films with Andrew Denton, producing such hit TV shows as interview program Enough Rope and advertising panel show The Gruen Transfer.
After Zapruder’s merged last year with local indie Cordell Jigsaw to form CJZ Productions – the country’s largest independently owned production company – Jacoby announced she was leaving. Denton also departed CJZ in June, saying he was retiring from the TV industry.
Jacoby is a part-time member of broadcast regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, and a director of The Arts Law Centre of Australia.
