Jack Reynor, who co-starred with Florence Pugh in Midsommar, has landed a leading role in The Peripheral, a sci-fi mystery show that Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are making for Amazon.
The project adapts the novel by Cyperpunk author William Gibson and involves the usual concoction of Nolan-Joy and Gibson ideas, ranging from multiple timelines to cyber and nano-technology.
Chloe Grace Moretz and Gary Carr are already on the call sheet. Reynor will play Moretz’s character’s brother, a Marine veteran who finds out he’s been targeted for assassination.
Executive producing the series are Nolan and Joy, creator Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan), director Vincenzo Natali (In the Tall Grass), showrunner Greg Plageman (Person of Interest), Athena Wickham (Westworld) and Steven Hoban (In the Tall Grass).
Peripheral is from Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Television, in association with Kilter Films.
Reynor can currently be seen with Tom Holland in Cherry as well as in season two of Modern Love. The actor recently became a multi-hyphenate when he wrote and directed a short film, Bainne, starring Will Poulter, which won the best first short drama award at the Galway Film Festival. He also starred opposite Felicity Jones in Mimi Leder’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex and in CBS All Access series Strange Angel, co-produced by Sailor Bear and Ridley Scott under his Scott Free banner.
