NCIS powered CBS to a ratings win on Tuesday, as ABC fell to third behind NBC despite an hour-long Dancing with the Stars results show that saw boxer Sugar Ray Leonard get the boot.
NCIS kicked off the night with a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 19.2 million viewers overall, easily winning the 8 p.m. time period against NBC’s Biggest Loser: Couples (2.4, 6.9 million) and the season premiere of ABC’s Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (1.4, 5.3 million). In fact, the Emmy-winning Food Revolution was down 36 percent compared to last season’s debut, which was on a Sunday.
CBS also prevailed at 9 p.m. with NCIS: Los Angeles (3.3, 15.3 million) beating DWTS (3.0, 15.4), which was down 6 percent week-to-week. The second hour of NBC’s Biggest Loser (2.8, 7.4 million) was third at 9 p.m.
For the night, CBS averaged a 3.0 rating with 15.1 million viewers followed by NBC (2.4, 6.4 million) and ABC (2.3, 10.4 million).
ABC did manage to win the 10 p.m. time slot with Body of Proof (2.5, 11.1 million) while The Good Wife and Parenthood both averaged a 2.0 rating each.
Univision (1.4, 3.4 million) was fourth for the night with telenovelas Teresa (1.4, 3.4 million) and Triunfo del Amor (1.4, 3.4 million). With reruns of Glee (1.4, 4.1 million) and Raising Hope (1.1, 3.2 million) plus a new episode of Traffic Light (0.9, 2.2 million), Fox sunk to fifth for the night.
