Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who now runs an eponymous website and hosts a daily online news show, had told his subscribers Monday that his former colleague Jeanine Pirro would be appearing on his Tuesday night show to discuss the new Supreme Court pick.
“Of course tomorrow, we’ve got Judge Pirro, Jeanine Pirro, who’s going to weigh in on the situation right here,” O’Reilly said on his Monday show. He repeated the tease in his “message of the day” Tuesday, saying, “Tuesday on the No Spin News beginning at 7 eastern, we’ll analyze the Kavanaugh selection with Judge Jeanine Pirro.”
But Pirro did not end up appearing on O’Reilly’s Tuesday night show. Her absence followed a blog post from the left-leaning media watchdog — and longtime Fox News critic — Media Matters for America, which pointed out the scheduled appearance under the headline, “Fox News can’t quit Bill O’Reilly.”
Sometime Tuesday, O’Reilly’s “message of the day” was edited (cached version here) to remove any reference to Pirro’s scheduled appearance. Her absence was not mentioned during O’Reilly’s show. Instead, he interviewed former U.S. attorney Brett Tolman, who, as Pirro was scheduled to do, discussed President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
A Fox News spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on Pirro’s scheduled appearance. O’Reilly’s rep has also not responded to a question about her absence.
Another Fox News employee, senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano, is scheduled to appear on Wednesday night’s show, O’Reilly announced Monday. It’s not clear if he will appear as scheduled, and O’Reilly did not mention his guest by name Tuesday night.
