Celeb fans couldn’t believe Pia Toscano — who had been the favorite to win this season — was voted off American Idol Thursday night.
Tweeted Tom Hanks: “Don’t have an IDOL habit, but how could the USA vote Pia off? I may be done for the season! HANX.”
Added Alyssa Milano, “What in the world? Pia? Pia was sent home? How is that possible? I’m so confused. #AmericanIdol”
Milano then Tweeted Toscano after, “Keep your head up, beauty girl. You’re an awesome talent.”
Wrote Jersey Shore‘s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, “Pia should have won the whole thing! I’m not watchin Idol anuymore. I’m with JLO on this one…”
Added her co-star Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola (who did not get an MTV spinoff like Snooki, JWoww and Pauly D), “nooo please tell me why Pia is in the bottom 3?!”
Wrote Minka Kelly: “Will someone please explain to me HOW in the WORLD @PToscanoAI10 (Pia) has been voted off American Idol?! #baffled!!”
Comedian Dax Shepard fumed, “This did not just happen!!! How??? I’m going to do something radical. I love you Pia!” He followed it up with “This is more egregious than that no-hitter that was ruined by that ump” and “@minkakelly @PToscanoAI10 I’m going to do something drastic. This has put me in an unstable mood.”
Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell chalked it up to this: “Teenagers are voting, popularity contest. Pia had the most potential and talent.”
Toscano, a Queens, New York-native, was still a trending topic on Twitter Friday morning.
