Jimmy Kimmel is taking some more time off from his nightly ABC show to be with his infant son, Billy, who underwent a successful heart surgery, his second, on Monday morning. Kimmel’s vacant hosting spot will be taken up by a number of celebrity guest hosts this week.
Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will host Monday’s show with guests Margot Robbie and Chris Stapleton; Tuesday will see Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross as guest host, who will welcome Mary J. Blige and Amanda de Cadenet to the show; Neil Patrick Harris will perform hosting duties on Wednesday, joined by guests Vanessa Kirby and animal expert Jules Sylvester; and Melissa McCarthy will round out the week of guest hosts as she welcomes Octavia Spencer and Dave Franco with a musical performance from Hanson.
Kimmel recently reached out to his famous friends in late October while the late-night host and his family prepared for his son’s second heart surgery. Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Shaquille O’Neal and Dave Grohl stepped in to guest-host, with Grohl appearing on the show in costume as David Lettermen for Halloween and performing a holiday musical mashup with Kristen Bell, while Lawrence got to interview one of her favorite celebrities, Kim Kardashian.
