Joe Biden will soon make the jump to the small screen when he makes an appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The vice president will be filmed for the popular franchise, which is taping Friday, according to Biden’s public schedule.
“While in New York, the vice president will tape an appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on the rape kit backlog and efforts to end violence against women,” the schedule read.
Biden will play himself in the Sept. 28 episode, in which the Vice President commends the special victims unit, led by Lt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay), for their work addressing the national rape kit backlog, specifically in the city of Detroit. The scene mimics Hargitay and Biden’s previous joint efforts on the same issue. They both spoke in June at the United State of Women Summit at the White House to discuss the national backlog of untested rape kits. Before that, Biden was honored for his work to end domestic violence and sexual assault by Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation.
Biden has long been an outspoken champion against domestic violence and sexual assault. Earlier this year, he introduced Lady Gaga’s performance of “Til It Happens to You” at the Oscars.
Biden previously played himself on the series finale of another NBC series, Parks and Recreation, back in 2015.
Law & Order: SVU, which was renewed in February, kicks off its 18th season on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
