MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough has a bold political prediction: he doesn’t think President Donald Trump will run for re-election in 2020.
“I don’t think Donald Trump’s going to run for re-election. He didn’t want to be elected president, he didn’t think he would be elected president. He didn’t even think he was going to get the Republican nomination. He’s going to cash out,” he explained during an appearance with co-host and fiancee Mika Brzezinski on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Thursday night.
“He’ll get money from the Saudis. He’ll make money from Putin when he gets out, that’s why he’s been Putin’s lapdog. Donald Trump is all about money,” Scarborough added. The duo had been discussing potential candidates when Scarborough made the comment.

To that end, Brzezinski said she believes former Vice President Joe Biden could run, as could former Secretary of State John Kerry. “I love Kamala Harris,” she added, referring to the Democratic California senator.
Colbert also asked the duo, who are frequent targets of the president, how they handle his “nicknames” and insults such as “crazy Mika” and “psycho Joe.” “You laugh at it,” Scarborough explained. Colbert joked that he was jealous and wanted a Trump nickname as well.
The two also slammed Trump for his response to the disappearance and likely murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, calling it “pathetic” and “a complete embarrassment.”
“We now are basically selling out our interests nationwide, our values, who we are as a nation,” Scarborough added.
Khashoggi was considered a dissident to Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, with whom Trump has previously been friendly. Trump later said he promises “severe punishment” for the culprit.
The two were on The Late Show to promote the re-release of Brzezinski’s 2011 book, Know Your Value.
