The
American Crime creator has extended his overall deal with the studio for an additional three years, ABC announced Wednesday.
Included in the pact is a feature first-look arrangement for Ridley and his International Famous Players Radio Picture Corp. with Disney and its related entities for any feature film project that Ridley develops and/or writes during the term. Ridley’s company will also hire a dedicated development executive in the coming months.
“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with John, who brought us a show we’re so proud of in American Crime,” said Patrick Moran, executive vp ABC Studios. “We’re very much looking forward to future collaborations with him and his team.”
The news comes the same day that season two of Ridley’s Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated American Crime returns on ABC. The low-rated anthology drama has been a breakout with critics and in its second season explores sexuality, economic disparity and athletic elitism in a case of sexual assault at a high school. It stars Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Regina King and Lili Taylor.

Presence in the works, with production starting next week in L.A. He’s also rumored to be working on a top-secret Marvel drama for the network as well.
