Fox has picked up its fifth drama pilot.
The network on Friday handed out a pilot order to Boomerang, a drama from Shameless boss John Wells.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
The Warner Bros. Television entry revolves around the unusual everyday drama surrounding a family business — except this family is in the business of executing hits as assassins for the U.S. government.
Davey Holmes (Shameless, Awake) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Wells and Andrew Stearn. Holmes is repped by WME.
The project was one of three that Wells had in development at the network this season. Boomerang becomes the network’s fifth drama pilot order this season, joining Greg Kinnear starrer Rake, Sleepy Hollow, Delirium and The List.
Worth noting: Fox ordered five hourlong pilots last season but ultimately only picked up two — The Mob Doctor, which was DOA, and Kevin Williamson‘s The Following, which launched well this week.
