Jon Huntsman took a campaign cue from Bill Clinton on Wednesday’s Late Show With David Letterman by demonstrating some unexpected musical skills. The Republican presidential nominee’s instrument of choice: the keyboard.

On Letterman’s couch, Huntsman revealed that he once aspired to become a famous rock musician. The CBS host then showed what he deemed a “rather incriminating photo” of Huntsman with his old high school band, Wizard, sporting bushy hair and a sullen expression.

“I thought I could make it big,” said Huntsman. “I wanted to be like Paul Shaffer. So if I’d made it as a musician, Dave, I wouldn’t be sitting with you today. I’d be playing with the guys,”
With that clear cue, Letterman encouraged Huntsman to join Shaffer and the Late Show band for a rendition of “Johnny B. Goode.” The video footage recalls Clinton’s saxophone playing on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1992.
