Lifetime is dedicating a full night of programming to mark the 20th anniversary of the day JonBenet Ramsey died.
In addition to previously announced scripted TV movie Who Killed JonBenet? (watch the trailer, above) the female-skewing cable network has added a two-hour documentary special, JonBenet’s Mother: Victim or Killer, that turns the lens on Patsy Ramsey, the person some believe killed the six-year-old beauty queen.
Set to begin Nov. 5 at 8 p.m., the TV movie stars Eion Bailey, Michel Gill, Julia Campbell and Payton Lepinski as JonBenet. Immediately following the scripted film, JonBenet’s Mother will begin at 10 p.m., with the special reconstructing her life as a socialite, beauty queen, wife, mother and suspected killer, and digging deep into the mind and actions of this mysterious woman. The special features people who have never spoken publicly, taking a fresh look at the crime and examinining the evidence through the lens of modern forensic technology. The doc is produced by Sharp Entertainment’s Matt Sharp, Dan Adler and Siobhan Walshe, who all exec produce alongside Lifetime’s Mary Donahue and Kimberly Chessler.
The doc becomes the latest project — scripted or unscripted — to explore the case of the child beauty queen. CBS recently kicked off the fall season with The Case Of, a multiple-night doc in which investigators landed on the theory that JonBenet’s brother, Burke Ramsey, was responsible for her death. Other networks, including ID and A&E have also explored the cold case. Dec. 26, 2016, marks the 20th anniversary of her death.
