Josh Charles has booked his first major TV arc since leaving The Good Wife. The actor will recur on the upcoming third season of Showtime’s Masters of Sex, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The Emmy-nominated actor will portray Daniel Logan, a self-made businessman working in the scent industry. Hoping to bottle the smell of sex and market an aphrodisiac to the general public, Dan seeks out Masters’ (Michael Sheen) and Johnson’s (Lizzy Caplan) expertise on desire. A charmismatic salesman, his involvement with the duo becomes complicated.

This marks Charles’ first dramatic role on the small screen since he left The Good Wife in the middle of the show’s fifth season, when his character was dramatically killed off. Since then, Charles has made several appearances on Inside Amy Schumer, most recently in the show’s Friday Night Lights parody, and he is set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming Wet Hot American Summer revival.
The new season of Masters of Sex will jump ahead to 1966, as Masters and Johnson deal with the national spotlight when their sex study is finally unveiled at the start of the Sexual Revolution. Charles joins previously announced guest star Maggie Grace.
Season three of Masters of Sex premieres on July 12 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
