WGN America is eyeing another original series. The network, which premieres its first scripted original, Salem, on April 20, has ordered a script against a series commitment for Radiant Doors from Gaumont International Television and Justin Lin‘s Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Radiant Doors, based on a short story by Michael Swanwick, takes place in a society that is suddenly flooded with refugees from a dystopian future. Should WGN approve of the pilot script, penned by Jeremy Doner (The Killing, Damages), it will go straight to series.
“We have been wanting to work with both Justin and Jeremy and are so happy to have them come together on this project,” said Gaumont’s CEO Katie O’Connell. “The award-winning short story really captivated all of us with its transcendent themes. WGN has been so impressive with their early slate and they are the perfect partner for us.”
Both Lin and Doner will executive produce, and Lin will also direct. Perfect Storm’s Danielle Woodrow and Troy Craig Poon are also on board to EP, with Ryan Andolina serving as co-producer.
In addition to Salem, WGN has also ordered the drama Manhattan straight to series.
