Alfonso’s new deal comes the same day that the long-running NBC soap opera received a series best 15 Daytime Emmy nominations, including for outstanding drama series and for lead actress Crystal Chappell.

Days marked its 46th year on the air in November. Alfonso’s decision to remain with the series comes as Days has welcomed back stars yesteryear, with Charles Shaughnessy and Lisa Rinna returning to the series this year.
