Ilene Chaiken is getting back into the game.
The L Word creator has sold a crime drama to CBS, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Titled Solve for X, the drama revolves around a young game developer at a social gaming company in San Francisco who agrees to consult for an anti-crime task force. Chaiken will write and executive produce alongside the Tannenbaum Co.’s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men) for CBS Television Studios.
The project marks Chaiken’s first development sale of the season and is in the same vein of her previous broadcast efforts of late. Last season, CBS ordered Quean to pilot but ultimately pulled the plug on the Warner Bros. Television drama that centered on a female hacker who helps the Oakland police solve crimes after rumblings that it was too similar to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Chaiken last year had the drama Hail Mary, starring Minnie Driver as a suburban mom-turned-detective, set up at CBS.
In the meantime, Chaiken’s L Word reality spinoff The Real L Word recently completed its third season on Showtime. No decision has been made about the future of the unscripted series.
Chaiken is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
