The series marks a rare comedic turn for McDermott, who won a Golden Globe for his starring role in the David E. Kelley legal drama The Practice. However, he previously appeared in 2012 comedy The Campaign, which hailed from the same exec producers (Will Ferrell, Adam McKay.)
Kevin Estrada/FoxFox has scheduled a few extra flights for L.A. to Vegas.
The network has picked up three additional episodes of the midseason comedy starring Dylan McDermott. That brings the first-season episode count to a total of 15.
The pickup comes after the series, which counts Modern Family’s Steve Levitan among its executive producers, aired only one episode. L.A. to Vegas launched Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 9 p.m., holding all of its Lethal Weapon lead-in and opening with a 1.1 rating among the all-important adults 18-49 demographic — on par with ABC hit Black-ish. Among total viewers, the series premiere of L.A. to Vegas averaged 3.8 million total viewers. With three days of delayed viewing, the pilot rose to a 1.5 rating in the demo and 5.6 million total viewers, making it Fox’s most-watched Tuesday comedy since 2015.
The additional pickup comes as the network has just rolled out its midseason schedule, scoring promising early returns (and DVR gains) for Ryan Murphy procedural 9-1-1.
The second episode of L.A. to Vegas airs Tuesday.
