ABC’s ambitious Roland Emmerich drama has added a theater veteran to its cast.
Laila Robins, who starred in the 2006 Broadway revival of George Bernard Shaw‘s Heartbreak House, has boarded the untitled project, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The untitled pilot revolves around Carter (Max Thieriot) astrophysics grad student in New York who learns that he is the chosen one to destroy the forces of evil.
Robins will play Angelica Teras, the elegant and fierce wife of the ambitious and enigmatic Senator Teras (Linus Roache) who has his eye on the White House.
Emmerich will write, direct and executive produce the drama, with Mark Gordon and Nicholas Pepper, with Harold Kloser also attached to write and exec produce the ABC Studios/Mark Gordon Co. project.
Martin Landau, Yaya DeCosta and Gabriella Wilde co-star.
In addition to her numerous theater credits, Robins has a long list of feature roles, including Planes, Trains & Automobiles, in which she played Steve Martin‘s wife. In addition, the Paradigm-repped actress’ small-screen credits include episodes of The Sopranos, Person of Interest, Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.
