Leslie Jones is accusing The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles of racism.
The comedian — a high profile cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and an avid Twitter user — hosted Sunday night’s BET Awards from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Just steps away from the theater is the Ritz-Carlton where Jones must’ve camped for the night. However, something apparently went wrong for Jones after the show.
“Wow was such a great night at the BET awards,” Jones tweeted Monday afternoon to her 694,000 followers. “But then had THE WORST STAY @RitzCarlton DO NOT STAY THERE!! THEY DONT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE!!”

Jones did not elaborate on the situation or provide any additional details about her experiences inside the hotel, which is a Ritz-Carlton/Marriott Marquis Los Angeles property.
The hotel was quick to respond to the tweet. A message posted on the hotel’s official Ritz-Carlton’s Twitter account included an apology and contact request: “We’re very sorry to hear this. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service to all. Please DM us & we’ll look into this right away.”
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to the hotel, which provided this statement: “Diversity and inclusion are part of the fabric of The Ritz-Carlton culture and operations. We remain committed to providing an environment where all feel welcome. While we do not comment publicly about individual guests, we take every guest concern seriously and work quickly to resolve issues.”
A rep for Jones did not respond to THR’s request for comment as of press time.
