Lifetime aired its first episode of UnReal on Monday evening and published episode one and the following three yet-to-air episodes online on Saturday morning.
Viewers can now stream the first four episodes online for free, before episodes two, three and four debut on the cable channel. The scripted series about the behind-the-scenes work of a dating reality show has gotten strong reviews from critics and was marketed heavily, but still debuted to a low rating, averaging 815,000 viewers for the first episode.
Created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, UnReal stars Shiri Appleby, Craig Bierko, Freddie Stroma and Constance Zimmer.
NBC is trying a similar approach with its new summer show Aquarius; the network released all 13 episodes online immediately after the two-hour premiere.
The show airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.
