During her Tuesday appearance on NBC’s Today, Rosie O’Donnell made it clear she didn’t agree with Lifetime’s choice to have Lindsay Lohan play iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor on its upcoming biopic, Liz & Dick. But, the actress says she’s shocked by O’Donnell’s angry response to the news.
“It’s funny that someone you don’t know at all can say something so intrusive and so knowing,” Lohan tells Access Hollywood.
The actress says that she had been fond of O’Donnell over the years. “I did one of my first interviews with her when I was little. I was so excited,” she says. But, the 25-year-old’s mother wasn’t so gracious about O’Donnell’s comments about her daughter’s flagging career.
“I just wanted to know if Rosie O’Donnell played the Parent Trap [for] her children and she said Lindsay hasn’t done any movies, you know, since she’s 16, but that’s absolutely not factual,” Dina Lohan says, pointing out Prairie Home Companion and Bobby. “I mean I just want to get the facts straight.”
O’Donnell made the comments Tuesday when she appeared on the “Professionals” panel on NBC’s Today and expressed doubt about the choice and Lohan’s abilities.
“The last thing she did good, she was 16,” she said passionately, adding, “I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.”
