Marriott Content Studio is debuting a half-hour reality series centered around its hotel brands.
Hotel Countdown, launching Thursday, is a six-part original show that takes viewers inside hotel openings. Each episode goes behind the scenes at one of Marriott’s hotels from around the world in the final days before a new property opens, to showcase what really goes on before it’s ready for guests. The show will explore what goes into architectural design, interior decorating, staff hiring and the planning of the grand opening event, among others.
Moxy Hotels, described as Marriott International’s “contemporary and edgy lifestyle brand” targeting millennials, is featured in the premiere episode as it prepares to open its first hotel in the United States in New Orleans. It will spotlight such staffers as the hotel interior designer as she searches for the finishing touches for the property and frantic phone calls as the project manager tries to secure a liquor license in time to enable the hotel to serve its complimentary drink at check-in.
“We’re really looking forward to our first foray into a reality series that centers around our hotels and associates,” said David Beebe, vp creative and content at Marriott. “By showcasing different brands across our global portfolio, we’ll be able to tell a brand-new and compelling story with each episode and highlight the amazing work of our associates.”
Added Moxy Hotels vp Toni Stoeckl: “Opening a hotel is such a rare and awesome experience, capturing that magic and sharing it with viewers for a peek behind the curtain — especially when it’s a Moxy ‘Freak Show’ — is nothing but good content.”
The first episode is available exclusively on Moxy Hotel’s YouTube channel, to be followed up with a global multiplatform distribution strategy on digital, TV, in-hotel, partner and owned channels.
