Freeform’s upcoming Marvel comedy New Warriors is staging an Enlisted reunion.
Showrunner Kevin Biegel has recruited former Enlisted star Keith David for a recurring role on the upcoming series.
Not quite super, not yet heroes, New Warriors features six young people learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates. Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) stars as comic book favorite Squirrel Girl, while Baby Daddy grad Derek Theler will stay in business with Freeform in the role of Mister Immortal in Marvel’s first live-action scripted comedy.
David will take on the role of Ernest Vigman, a caustic municipal employee who butts up against the hopeful energy of the new warriors. He next appears in Hulu’s Future Man and counts OWN’s recently renewed drama Greenleaf and Community among his credits. The actor starred as Sgt. Major Donald Cody on Fox’s beloved Enlisted, which was inspired by showrunner Biegel and his brothers. David is repped by Stone Manners, Silver Mine and attorney Diana G. Shaw.
Picked up straight to series in April, New Warriors hails from Marvel Television and ABC Studios’ cable arm ABC Signature. Marvel head of TV Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory executive produce alongside Biegel. The New Warriors cast also includes Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe and Kate Comer as Debrii.
