Maya Rudolph to Star in Apple Comedy Series

Maya Rudolph will star in a comedy series for Apple TV+.

The streaming platform has given a straight-to-series order to the untitled project, which reunites Rudolph with Forever creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. The show comes from Universal Television.

Rudolph will play Molly, a woman whose seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but $87 billion.

The project is the first at Apple for Rudolph, who has also starred in series at streamers Amazon (Forever) and Netflix (Big Mouth). The two-time Emmy winner is set to return to Saturday Night Live as host March 27.

Yang is also an executive producer of Apple’s Little America. The Parks and Recreation veteran and Hubbard (30 Rock, Superstore) will create, write and executive produce the new series. Rudolph will also be an executive producer alongside her Animal Pictures partners Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Dave Becky.

Rudolph’s recent credits include The Good Place, Netflix’s Wine Country and Hubie Halloween and voice work on Fox’s Bless the Harts, Disney’s Big Hero 6: The Series and Netflix’s movie The Willoughbys. She’s repped by WME, 3 Arts, Narrative and Hirsch Wallerstein. Yang is repped by WME, McKuin Frankel and ID.
