Megan Amram’s quest for that sweet Emmy gold took a major step toward completion today.
The Good Place writer-producer’s shortform web series An Emmy for Megan was nominated for two Emmys this morning: outstanding actress in a shortform comedy or drama and outstanding shortform comedy or drama.
Released April 27 — the deadline for a project to be considered for September’s 70th Primetime Emmy Awards — An Emmy for Megan chronicles Amram’s journey to become an actress worthy of the TV Academy’s benediction.
In the series’ six episodes, she lays out a convincing case that, obviously, voting members of the academy responded to in a major way. Not only did they bestow upon her the best actress nomination that she coveted, specifically, but decided that one nomination, for one performance, was, frankly, an inadequate reward for her labors as lead actress, writer, director, composer of original songs, executive producer and Emmy campaigner.

Upon receiving word of her dual nominations, Amram took to Twitter to celebrate and thank her fans, but emphasized that her ultimate triumph was far from assured: “It’s not called #TwoNominationsForMegan, it’s called #AnEmmyForMegan. Because what matters is that trophy.”

In an interview with THR in April, Amram said she had big plans for an eventual campaign. She’s already paid for a billboard on Hollywood Boulevard, but that’s just the beginning. “I am willing to sink every penny of my savings into this,” she told THR. “I now have been saving up my money for something nebulous in the future. And it became clear that this was the most important thing to ever happen to me, and I was going to really need to put my own financial backing into it. So I’m thinking billboards, bus ads, bus benches, that’s a given. And I’m not sure if it’s legal or not, but I’d like to find the home address of every [TV] Academy member — if the academy won’t given them to me maybe Cambridge Analytica has them or something — and I would like to personally visit them, introduce myself, tell them how good I am at acting, tell them that my series is great if they haven’t seen it.”
She also offered a message to voters who might be on the fence: “My series is amazing. But even if you don’t like it, it’s important that you vote for it. Like, like it, love it, hate it, it kinda doesn’t matter as long as I win.”
Good Place actress D’Arcy Carden, whose shameful act of poisoning Amram in an attempt to derail her nascent acting career, had not responded to a request for comment at press time.
