Michelle Beadle has signed a new, multiyear with ESPN. She will continue to co-host SportsNation with Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley. But beginning Feb. 8, the show will move from ESPN2 to flagship ESPN, where it will air in the 4 p.m. ET slot, essentially kicking off ESPN’s afternoon talk slate of Highly Questionable at 4:30 p.m., Around the Horn at 5 p.m. and Pardon the Interruption at 5:30 p.m.
It’s a big promotion for Beadle and her co-hosts. Beadle returned to ESPN in 2014 after an unhappy stint at NBC, where in addition to sports she contributed to Access Hollywood, while a daily show created for her failed and was canceled after less than a year.
Beadle was the original co-host of SportsNation — with Colin Cowherd — from 2009-2012, before leaving for NBC. In its new slot, SportsNation will run 30 minutes, down from one hour. It will continue to be produced by senior coordinating producer Kevin Wildes and coordinating producer Richelle Markazene.
Wildes noted Thursday that SportsNation “has always had the youngest daily-show audience on ESPN2 and one of the most engaged with social media brands at ESPN.
“That’s largely because the show and the brand are a reflection of the talent’s intelligence, editorial sensibilities and wit,” he added. “As SportsNation moves to ESPN, we look forward to continuing the show’s evolution and growth.”
Additionally, Beadle will join Ramona Shelburne — ESPN senior writer and SportsNation and espnW contributor — for a new national radio show. Beadle & Shelburne will premiere Feb. 14, airing from noon to 2 p.m. ET from ESPNLA 710’s Los Angeles studios.
“I feel genuinely fortunate to work with so many friends and talented people at ESPN, who make every day such fun,” Beadle said in a statement. “I think that joy is evident to our viewers, and why I am particularly excited to be here for the next several years.”
Beadle recently signed off of Jim Lampley’s HBO program The Fight Game, where she had been a contributor. Her new ESPN deal also includes hosting opportunities at broadcast partner ABC, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
