AMC Networks international division, AMC/Sundance Channel Global, has promoted veteran international television executive Harold Gronenthal to Executive Vice President of Programming and Operations as the group’s global roll out picks up pace.
In addition to Gronenthal, other promotions at AMC/Sundance include Mark Fareri, has been boosted to Director of Operations and Jennie Morris, named the new VP of Affiliate Marketing at the group. The moves follow rapid international expansion for the Sundance Channel, which has launched on multiple platforms across numerous European and Asian territories over the past few months.
Heading into MIP TV, the global television market and conference which runs April 8-11 in Cannes, AMC/Sundance is rolling out new episodes of flagship series, including Mad Men and British drama The Hour, across its international channels. The new season of Mad Men will premiere on Sundance Channel in Europe and Asia this summer in agreement with producer Lionsgate while The Hour will bow across Sundance Channel’s Asian network via a first window deal with Shine International. A similar deal with Sony Pictures Television will see the third season of AMC’s Breaking Bad premiere as a first window for Sundance Channel subscribers across Asia on April 11.
