International Rescue is heading to China.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment on Tuesday announced that it has sold the first season of kids show Thunderbirds Are Go to Chinese national broadcaster CCTV.
The show is a CG- animated reboot of the children’s classic in which a family of adventurers runs a secret organization called International Rescue, equipped with high-tech rescue craft, and carry out lifesaving missions on sea, land and in the air and space.
CCTV has picked up the first 26-episode season of Thunderbirds Are Go for its children’s channel CCTV-14.
The new series, which first aired on ITV in the U.K. last year, features the voice talents of Rosamund Pike, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rasmus Hardiker, David Menkin and Kayvan Novak. Amazon Prime Instant Video has ordered four seasons of the show, the first of which debuted on Amazon’s U.S. streaming service in April.
“We are delighted to be the exclusive partner in China for this hit reinvention of a much-loved, classic series,” said Zhuang Dianjun, head of CCTV Kids. “It is a great addition to our portfolio and I’m sure will have huge appeal to our young viewers.”
Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, Thunderbirds Are Go was produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with Weta Workshop. ITV Studios has sold the series to more than 40 countries worldwide.
